An update….

This week & weekend I have just begun using facebook in earnest…as a result I have been in contact with a number of former students of Pakati Secondary School, including some whose names I recall from when I taught there. I recognise a number of the family names, so it is easy to work on the assumption that some are siblings or cousins so would also have attended the school.

I have gained followers from my work colleagues and from friends I know from the football team I support (Scunthorpe United). Yet again I find myself amazed at the responses I get, but also how quickly the facebook account can help gather useful contacts.

It has resulted in increased traffic to the website and a number of small donations to the fundraising page so thank you one and all.

Please keep sending the messages and links out to your friends & followers, dont forget the twitter feed or to email if you have any comnents or questions.

My name is Chris Walker, and between January 1989 and September 1991 I worked, through VSO (Voluntary Service Overseas), at Pakati Secondary School in Murehwa South district in Zimbabwe. I was a Maths teacher for 2 years, the Acting Head for the last 8 months there. I have also taught in Botswana & the UK, had 4 years working for VSO, and have been a Civil Servant in Bradford since 2005.
