Latest update on the project is as follows:

Thanks to the BBC Radio Humberside interview I did last Wednesday (16/01/19) I have had a number of offers of help – including 4 PC’s and a laptop from a company in Horsforth, Leeds – to be confirmed shortly, a laptop from a friend in Glasgow, a laptop, some clothes (mostly kids sports tops I believe) and maybe some toys too from some Iron (Scunthorpe United F.C.) fans who know me, plus the first small donations to the fundraising campaign at


My name is Chris Walker, and between January 1989 and September 1991 I worked, through VSO (Voluntary Service Overseas), at Pakati Secondary School in Murehwa South district in Zimbabwe. I was a Maths teacher for 2 years, the Acting Head for the last 8 months there. I have also taught in Botswana & the UK, had 4 years working for VSO, and spent the last 13 years as a Civil Servant in Bradford. I married a Zimbabwean woman & we have 2 sons.
